OIC/DC provides FREE occupational skills training and job placement for the District of Columbia residents who are between the ages of 18-24. With a focus on assisting participants in gaining valuable credentials in three critical areas: Work Readiness or Microsoft Specialist (MOS) or Pre-apprenticeship Training for Construction Trades.
OIC/DC's certified instructors will prepare youth who are out-of-school for the job market, provide proficiency training in Microsoft Word and Excel, and provide basic education and proficiency in standard office practices. Also OIC/DC utilizes an outstanding PLATO Learning System to help increase academic enrichment skills. The program provides an enriched, open-entry/open-exit work and learning experience that is designed to provide the opportunity for young people to improve their skills and gain valuable credentials. Upon successful completion of the training, participants will be qualified for job placement.
Program Design Curriculum: The core design of this OIC program provides valuable skill training in two growth occupational areas that need workers who can successfully and productively work in the electronic workplace. Hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. The training time frame is approximately 20 weeks, inclusive of classroom and on-the-job training. Participants receive an hourly stipend.
