OIC/DC is proud to announce the introduction of its newest program: Weatherization Certification. This state of the art program brings together one of the Nation’s fastest growing industries with a proven community leader, OIC/DC. Using a combination of classroom lecture and discussion, audio-visual presentations, and practical hands-on lab exercises OIC/DC Weatherization Certification .

OIC/DC’s Weatherization Certification candidates will be introduced to the weatherization side of construction, building science and building assessment. Each module of instruction will include part or all of these methods of technology transfer to acclimate the candidates to the demands and expectations of the weatherization programs.

A Weatherization Technician assesses an eligible dwelling for potential weatherization services. Inspecting the building shell and mechanical systems; conduct diagnostic, and safety tests; record the location, condition, and dimensions of walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, and mechanical systems; enter data into a computerized energy audit or use a priority list to select cost-effective measures; and prepare clear and accurate work orders to ensure the most appropriate measures are installed properly.
Weatherization Certification
Upon successful completion of the Weatherization Certification, candidates will be able to:
    o Present and/or demonstrate proficiency in Weatherization Basic Competencies
    o Understand and maintain Safe Work Practices
    o Integrate into the Weatherization workforce with a clear understanding of industry standards
    o Be able to demonstrate knowledge and application of energy processes, standards and procedures
